Editorial Policy
The standards every StoryTide Daily story is held to.
This policy explains how StoryTide Daily decides what to publish, how articles are researched and written, and the standards every story must meet before it goes live.
Our standards
- Accuracy first. Facts are checked against reliable sources before publication. See our Fact-Checking Policy.
- Original work. We write our own articles and create our own messages, wishes and quotes. We do not copy other publications.
- Helpful over long. We answer the reader’s question clearly. We do not pad articles to reach a word count.
- Clear sourcing. Articles that rely on facts list their sources so readers can check them.
- Independence. Advertisers and partners do not decide what we write. Sponsored material is always labeled.
Writing about real people
Profiles and biographies include only information that is publicly documented and relevant to the person’s public life. We never invent or estimate a person’s age, net worth, relationships, family details, career history or personal statements. When a detail is not publicly confirmed, we say so or leave it out. We do not publish private information such as home addresses, and we take extra care with anyone under 18.
Images
Every image on StoryTide Daily is licensed for our use, in the public domain, or created originally for us. We keep a record of each image’s source and license and credit creators where required. We do not use nude, semi-nude, sexually suggestive or revealing imagery of anyone, including public figures. Original illustrations are never presented as real photographs, and we do not create realistic AI images of real people. Full details are in our Image and Licensing Policy.
Use of AI tools
We may use AI tools to assist with research, outlining and original illustrations. Every article is reviewed, fact-checked and edited by a person before publication, and that editor is responsible for its accuracy. We do not publish AI-generated text that has not been checked, and we do not use AI to create realistic images of real people.
From idea to publication
- We choose topics based on what readers are searching for and where we can add something useful.
- We research the topic, review reliable sources and note what can and cannot be verified.
- We write an original draft with clear headings and cited sources.
- An editor reviews accuracy, readability, images and links.
- Only approved articles are published or scheduled.
Updates and corrections
We review evergreen articles regularly and show an “updated” date when we make meaningful changes. Errors are handled under our Corrections Policy.
