Stories That Inform Everyday Life

Image and Licensing Policy

How we source, license and review every image.

Images matter as much as words. This policy explains where StoryTide Daily images come from and the standards every image must meet.

Where our images come from

  • Images in the public domain or released under CC0.
  • Stock and editorial images licensed for our use, credited as the license requires.
  • Original photographs and illustrations made for StoryTide Daily, including images created with AI tools.

We do not take images from search results or other publications, remove watermarks or credits, or closely recreate someone else’s photograph. We keep a record of each image’s source, creator, license and attribution terms.

Modest, respectful imagery

We do not publish nude, semi-nude, sexually suggestive or revealing images of anyone, of any gender, in any section of the site, including celebrity and entertainment coverage. That includes lingerie, swimwear, see-through clothing and suggestive poses. If the only available photo of a person does not meet this standard, we use a different visual instead. Images involving children follow stricter standards still.

AI-created and illustrative images

We do not create realistic AI images of real people, and we never present an illustration as a real news photograph. Illustrations accompanying news or profiles are labeled as illustrations.

Rights holders

If you own an image that appears here and believe it is used without permission or without the correct credit, please contact us through our Contact page. We will review it promptly.
