Fact-Checking Policy
How we check facts before a story is published.
Readers should be able to trust what they read on StoryTide Daily. This page describes how we check facts before and after publication.
Sources we rely on
We prefer primary and official sources: company announcements and filings, government and regulator websites, official statements and verified social accounts, court records, peer-reviewed research and established news organizations. We treat fan sites, forums, unsourced wikis and aggregator pages as leads to check, never as proof.
What we check
- Names, titles, dates, ages and numbers.
- Quotes, which must be attributed to a verifiable source.
- Claims about real people, which must be publicly documented. Financial estimates such as net worth are published only when a credible, named source exists, and we identify it.
- Technology steps, which we test where we can and date-stamp because apps change.
- News items, where we confirm both the event date and the publication date.
- Image rights and suitability.
When we cannot verify something
If a detail cannot be confirmed, we leave it out or clearly say it has not been publicly confirmed. We do not fill gaps with guesses.
Showing our work
Fact-based articles end with a Sources section listing the references we used. If you think we got something wrong, please tell us through our Contact page; we handle reports under our Corrections Policy.
